The hospital figures are CPT 70551, brain MRI without contrast, taken from each hospital's own federal transparency file and attributed to the date that file carries. A further 13 hospitals publish a “cash price” that is its chargemaster restated rather than a discount, reaching $8,466; those are kept out of the band above and counted here instead. Hospitals whose file we could not read are named, not filled in (methodology).
